Back-painted glass is exploding in popularity with homeowners, architects and interior designers as an attractive, durable, hygienic and maintenance-free product. Back painted glass is ideal for wall coverings, kitchen backsplashes, bathrooms and commercial applications; like spandrel glass, storefronts, etc.
Colour Cote™ is a Spray-on-Glass system for creating colored glass products. It is a 3-component paint, consisting of highest quality color pigments, a clear solvent base polyol resin, and an acrylic base resin hardener.
This innovative system includes proprietary software, which enables the fabricator to easily, quickly and precisely mix the desired color and amount in-house, in accordance with PANTONE and RAL Charts, or by visual matching with the Swatch Box Chart. The fabricator can achieve an infinite range of colors, without any guess work, and without waste.
The Glasslam Colour Cote™ system has environmental benefits by providing energy savings, since there is no special glass prepping involved and no heat treatment necessary. Both painting and curing take place at room temperature!
Alternatively, the painted glass can be resin laminated using the Glasslam Fast-Flo resin process, which encapsulates the sprayed surface and results in a safety laminated colored glass product, in accordance with ANSI Z97.1. This is especially desirable for outdoor applications.
In the case where the colored glass will be viewed from both sides, it is recommended to paint both glass panels and then laminate them together. In this way, both painted surfaces are encapsulated and protected from the elements, and the attractive “look” is consistent from both sides.
